Kevin Harvick took on the Florida Everglades in a twin-engine, 800-horsepower airboat . . . and met a few new reptilian friends along the way.

The defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion -- and winner of the 2014 Ford EcoBoost 400 -- spent the day in Florida to help promote the Nov. 22 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

His trip included an appearance at the Everglades Holiday Park -- one of South Florida's largest alligator rescues.
