The Cardinals handed the Cubs their first loss since September 26th in a 4-0 NLDS Game 1 win Friday night.

St. Louis got on the board in the first inning on a Matt Holliday RBI single and John Lackey handled the rest from the mound, quieting a Cubs team that had won nine straight. Jon Lester pitched well for Chicago allowing three runs over 7 1/3, but got no run support.

It was a one-run game most of the way until St. Louis struck for three runs on homers from Tommy Pham and Stephen Piscotty in the eighth. Trevor Rosenthal came in to close with a four-run lead and St. Louis got off to another strong postseason start.

Game 2 is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET in St. Louis.
