Nick Chubb rushed for more than 100 yards for the 13th consecutive game in Georgia's 38-10 loss to Alabama in Athens on Saturday. But immediately after Chubb extended his 100-yard-game streak, confusion ensued as to whether the mark was the Georgia school record.
The school itself sent out conflicting information. The Bulldogs' official website ran a headline (since corrected) reading: "Chubb breaks record, Dawgs fall to Tide," while at the same time, one of their official Twitter handles tweeted this:
So where does Chubb, who rushed for 146 yards including an 83-yard touchdown, stand in terms of the record?
Herschel Walker rushed for more than 100 yards in 13 consecutive games. However, one of those was a bowl game. The NCAA did not count bowl game statistics during Walker's playing career, but Georgia's policy does not have to match the NCAA's standard.
Of course, Chubb's 13-game streak includes his Belk Bowl performance against Louisville, so all things being equal, it appears the Georgia backs are indeed tied.
