The Carolina Panthers are hoping that they've found some immediate help in the form of defensive end Jared Allen. At the very least, when the Panthers traded with the Chicago Bears to acquire Allen, they can rest assured that they're getting a player who truly wants to be a Panther.
According to a recent report from David Newton of ESPN, the Panthers were "by far No. 1" on the list of potential teams for Allen to go to. That comes from Allen's agent, Ken Harris, who also mentioned that the Panthers were one of five teams Allen considered.
As Newton explains, the reason for Allen's departure is largely due to the Bears switching from the 4-3 defensive scheme to a 3-4 under head coach John Fox.
Well, one man's loss is another man's gain, right? The Panthers are hoping so at least.
With defensive end Charles Johnson being placed on the IR with designation-to-return, it means that Allen should see plenty of action right out of the gate for the Panthers in Week 4.
