Frank Mir wants another shot at Andrei Arlovski after the two fighters fizzled out to a less-than-stellar decision at UFC 191 just a few short weeks ago.
Arlovski defeated Mir in a very close decision that could have easily gone the other direction after both fighters accepted the co-main event fight just about a month out from the September card.
Mir's head coach Ricky Lundell tells "UFC Tonight" that they have already expressed to the UFC their desire for a five-round rematch with at least eight weeks to prepare for the fight this time.
Mir accepted the fight with Arlovski less than two weeks removed from his first-round knockout over Todd Duffee, which was his second knockout finish in 2015.
Unfortunately, Mir was flat for a big part of the fight with Arlovski although many feel he still got the job done to earn a decision win. The judges disagreed and gave Arlovski the win instead and now Mir wants another shot with a little more notice to prepare this time.
As for Arlovski, the former UFC heavyweight champion has targeted December or January for his return to action although it's likely he's looking at early 2016 considering most of the cards through 2015 are already filled.
Arlovski's manager Malki Kawa, who is also Mir's manager, stated that the Belarus native would be happy to accept a rematch if that's what the UFC wanted.
Arlovski is currently riding a four fight win streak in the UFC, but won't receive the next heavyweight title shot with Fabricio Werdum already set to meet Cain Velasquez at some point in 2016.
There's no word yet from the UFC to gauge their interest in a potential Arlovski vs. Mir 2, but the fighters don't seem opposed to the idea if it happens.
