The Chargers fielded a dynamic punt returner -- for one half, at least.
It turns out the team had good reason to yank Jacoby Jones after 30 minutes against the Lions, though.
Keenan Allen and Branden Oliver were forced to split return duties in Jones' absence. Neither flashed the kind of big-play ability that the former Raven can provide.
San Diego's return game was average-to-mediocre last season with Chris Davis. The ex-Charger was 22nd in the league in total return yardage; the Chargers sought an upgrade this offseason there for a reason.
They signed Jones in hopes he could be a Darren Sproles-like spark. Instead, they're still waiting for their difference maker.
