As the 2015 regular season opener approaches, it seems less and less likely that New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will be ready to suit up. On Wednesday, head coach Tom Coughlin told the media that Cruz will not practice, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

Usually, when a player misses Wednesday's practice, he is unlikely to play on Sunday. In Cruz's case, the missed practice has an even greater meaning. The veteran has missed the entire preseason and hasn't suited up in live NFL action since he tore his patellar tendon in 2014.

Cruz is dealing with a calf injury that Coughlin claims has no relation to the knee injury. However, it remains a nagging issue for Cruz as he attempts to make a comeback.
