Top ranked women's strawweight contender Claudia Gadelha will have to watch from the sidelines when Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends her title at UFC 193 in August while she waits to heal up from an injured hand.
Gadelha is the No. 1-ranked fighter currently at 115 pounds and was expected to get the next shot at Jedrzejczyk following her win over Jessica Aguilar in August at UFC 190.
Unfortunately, Gadelha suffered a hand injury in the win and it forced her out of action for several months.
According to Gadelha's team, via UFC Tonight, the Brazilian strawweight is still unable to close her hand due to injured ligaments.
As a result of the injury, Gadelha isn't expected to be ready for a return to action until at least February 2016.
With Gadelha sidelined, the UFC opted to place Valerie Letourneau in the next title fight against Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 in Australia.
