Within the next week or so, Hendrick Motorsports will announce multi-year contract extensions for team driver Jimmie Johnson, his crew chief Chad Knaus and sponsor Lowe's.

That's word from team founder and owner Rick Hendrick, who spoke to reporters after a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon for a new 45,000-square-foot Axalta Customer Experience Center on the grounds of the expansive Hendrick Motorsports campus in Concord, N.C.

Asked about new deals for his driver, crew chief and sponsor -- all of whom have been together since Johnson's rookie season of 2002 -- Hendrick said, "You're going to have to wait for one more week. You might not even have to wait a week.

"It's just a matter of throwing it out -- probably next week," Hendrick said.

Then he was asked if the new deals were for all three of the parties involved and he added, "Yes."

In his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career, all of which has been spent at Hendrick, Johnson has won six series championships, 74 races, 33 poles and career race earnings of $148,261,477.
