EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Quarterback Vernon Adams was knocked out of his debut for the No. 7 Oregon Ducks after a hard hit in the fourth quarter.

Adams, making his first Oregon start against his former team, Eastern Washington, was escorted by trainers to the locker room after the late hit by the Eagles' John Kreifels.

Adams staggered as he tried to rise following the tackle.

Kreifels was ejected from the game, but taunted fans on the sidelines before Eastern Washington coaches quickly surrounded him and ran with him off the field.

Adams transferred to Oregon for his senior year of eligibility after three successful seasons at Eastern Washington. He threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks before he left the game.
