The Atlanta Falcons got some good news on Monday. While running back Devonta Freeman has been battling a hamstring injury since August 6, it seems that he's officially right on the fringe of being fully back in action.
As D. Orlando Ledbetter of MyAJC.com reported, Freeman had his "most active day in practice" Monday. Head coach Dan Quinn had some very positive things to say about it as well, which is great to hear with the opener just around the corner.
"That was encouraging for us," Falcons coach Dan Quinn told MyAJC.com. "To see him go and move. We'll take it to the next step (on Tuesday.)"
"He caught it well out of the backfield," Quinn said. "He ran it well today. Limited reps, but it was awesome to see him."
While Quinn sounded incredibly positive about Freeman's return, it's unknown whether or not he'll play in the preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. If he does, it'll likely be in a very limited role. Regardless, it seems that fans should expect Freeman to be a full-go for the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
