WEST BROMWICH, England -- Defender Jonny Evans has left Manchester United to join West Bromwich Albion.

The Northern Ireland international rose through the ranks at United and was the second-longest serving current player behind Wayne Rooney, making 198 appearances.

The 27-year-old center back signed a four-year deal at the Hawthorns.

The three-time Premier League winner says West Brom presents ''a new, fresh challenge for me and one I'm looking forward to.''
