When the New Orleans Saints signed another former basketball player at tight end, it immediately led to some eye-brow lifting from fans, for obvious reasons. After seeing TE Jimmy Graham pan out so well for the Saints, many want to know more about the newest addition.

Well, Chris Manhertz has little-to-no football experience, but that didn't stop the Saints from taking a shot on him. Best of all, as Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com reported, head coach Sean Payton had some very positive things to say about the former Canisius basketball player's workout.

Woodbery reports that during a recent interview, Payton said he had a "pretty impressive workout," while praising his size. Payton did state what you'd assume about a player who has actually never played football, saying that "he has a lot of things to learn."

At 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds, there's obvious reason to believe that the Saints will give him plenty of time to learn the position and the offense before throwing him into the fire.
