The Texas Rangers completed two trades Friday, sending right-hander Jon Edwards to San Diego to complete the trade for Will Venable and sending outfielder Michael Choice to Cleveland.

The Rangers traded for Venable Tuesday for minor-league catcher/outfielder Marcus Greene and a player to be named.

Edwards had three stints with the Rangers this season but spent most of his time with Triple-A Round Rock. With the Rangers he had a 6.00 ERA in 11 games. He was the closer for Round Rock, collecting 20 saves with a 1.42 ERA in 32 appearances.

Choice was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Venable on the 40-man roster. The Rangers are getting cash considerations from Cleveland from the former first rounder who played collegiately at UTA.

Choice was hitting .244 with 12 homers and 60 RBI in 110 games in Triple A. He had one at-bat for the Rangers this season. He made the club's Opening Day roster in 2014 after being acquired from Oakland but batted just .182 in 86 games.
