Second-year Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin went down in practice on Wednesday with an apparent knee injury, according to video and images taken by several media members.
Benjamin lay on the ground with teammates huddled around him after apparently going down with a non-contact knee injury.
Check out reports from the joint practice with the Dolphins:
Benjamin burst onto the scene last year as a rookie, catching 73 passes for 1,003 yards and nine touchdowns. He was slated once again to be Cam Newtown's top target this season for the defending NFC South champions.
On top of that, the Panthers and Dolphins got into a melee after the injury.
The injury occurred during the first day of scrimmages Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins at Wofford College. Benjamin appeared to slip as he made a cut while running a crossing route. He sat up afterward holding his left leg.
After Benjamin went to the ground, several players from both teams took a knee around him.
Trainers attended to Benjamin and quickly called for the cart to take him into the locker room. Quarterback and close friend Cam Newton helped Benjamin into the cart.
