New York Jets rookie wide receiver Devin Smith got off to a rough start in his first training camp when he suffered a brutal injury. He was inadvertently hit in the back by safety Jaiquawn Jarrett, breaking three of his ribs and puncturing a lung, leaving him sidelined for an extended period of time.

It's a big blow to not only the Jets, but to Smith, as well. He's a young receiver itching to get on the field, but that's not exactly doable in the shape that he's in.

"It's very frustrating for me because I've never been out this long," Smith said, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. "And this is the first time something has been broken on my body. So it's kind of made me depressed a little bit, but just being here and seeing the guys compete and everybody has positive energy, it keeps me up."

Even through pain and sleepless nights, Smith has maintained his confidence and high spirits. He'll likely be ready for the start of the regular season where he's expected to take over the No. 3 receiver role he held at the beginning of camp.
