After assessing his options, San Diego Padres starting pitcher Brandon Morrow has reportedly decided to undergo surgery that will cut short his first season with the Padres.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Morrow, who has been diagnosed with an impingement in his right throwing shoulder, has opted to have an arthroscopic surgical procedure to remove the impingement.
As the recovery from the surgery is usually three to four months, Morrow will miss the remainder of the season, ending his first season with the Padres with only five starts.
Morrow excelled in those five starts, however, posting a 2-0 record while maintaining a 2.73 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 33 innings.
The 31-year-old righty is expected to have the surgery sometime this week.
