The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed linebacker Lavonte David to a five-year extension deal, FOX Sports 1's Peter Schrager reported.

The deal comes with $25.5 million in guarantees and the average per year is just north of $10 million, according to Schrager.

David, who was a second-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, has been one of the brightest, young linebackers in the game.

Following David's second season, he was voted as an All-Pro and became one of the centerpieces on Tampa Bay's defense.
