The Houston Texans moved quickly to fill the void caused by running back Arian Foster's injury, scheduling a workout with former New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans will host Thomas on Wednesday as the team looks find a replacement for Foster. The Houston running back suffered a groin injury Monday that is expected to require surgery and sideline him part of the regular season.

The 30-year-old Thomas was cut by the Saints in March. In eight seasons, Thomas has rushed for 3,745 yards and 28 touchdowns.

The Chronicle reports the Texans will also host running backs Joe McKnight and Ben Malena on Wednesday.

McKnight is a former fourth-round pick of the New York Jets, while Malena is a former Houston practice squad player.
