After one season wearing the scarlet and gold, the Niners have released cornerback Chris Cook.

The team announced the move on Wednesday. Cook signed with the club last season, but appeared in just six games. He signed another one-year deal in March before being waived. Cook was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2010 NFL Draft, where he spent four seasons prior to heading to the Bay Area.

In a nice gesture, Cook thanked the Niners' organization via his Instagram page.
