You'll see plenty of Melvin Gordon jerseys in the stands of Qualcomm Stadium this season.

You won't see one on Gordon's own mother, though. Carmen Gordon refuses to wear her son's threads until he earns it.

"You've got to show me a little something, but it won't be this year," she told ESPN. "So you might see me in the stands, but I won't have the jersey on."

That's some tough love from the rookie running back's harshest critic. It's also a common theme -- Carmen refused to wear her son's No 25 jersey until his final year at Wisconsin.

She says she'll be there for the first time her son suits up for an NFL game. But she'll show her support in other ways.

"You want him to do so well, but I think he expects so much so fast," she said. "But he'll get it, I know he will."
