Indians' Kipnis could be headed to DL

Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis could be headed to the disabled list, as his right shoulder sourness continues to be an issue.

The Tribe's lone All-Star this season underwent an MRI exam on the injured shoulder and the team is expected to give an update on the severity of the issue on Monday.

Indians manager Terry Francona said the disabled list is a possibility for Kipnis.

"It could be," Francona told reporters on Sunday. "We'll see, though."

"Francona was not ready to disclose the results of the MRI, because the manager wants to discuss the situation further with team doctor Mark Schickendantz, Cleveland's medical staff and general manager Chris Antonetti before announcing any upcoming decision regarding Kipnis' status. Antonetti is scheduled to join the team on the road in Anaheim on Monday."

Kipnis was not willing to discuss the matter with reporters on Sunday, but said he would address the matter soon.

The 28-year-old is hitting .326 with six homers, six triples, 31 doubles, 39 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 66 runs for the Indians this season.
