Michelle Wie has retired from the Women's British Open after aggravating her left ankle injury during her second round.
Wie was 10 over par for the round, and 14 over par for the tournament, when she quit after completing the 13th hole at Turnberry.
Her caddie, Duncan French, said Wie slipped to the ground as she walked off the 13th tee on a wet and windy day in western Scotland. French said Wie was in discomfort at the start of the round.
Wie developed a bone spur in her left foot after the U.S. Women's Open last month. She wore a protective boot in Scotland when she was not on the course.
