The Houston Rockets need two things: frontcourt depth and veteran leadership. This week they killed two birds with one stone, officially bringing old pal Chuck Hayes back into the mix on a one-year deal, per ESPN.

"The Houston Rockets bolstered their bench by agreeing to terms on a one-year, partially guaranteed veterans minimum contract with power forward Chuck Hayes on Wednesday night. Hayes, 32, played in 29 games for the Toronto Raptors last season, averaging 8.8 minutes per game. Hayes averaged just 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Hayes is familiar with the Rockets, having spent the first six seasons of his NBA career in Houston."

According to the same report, the team is also interested in re-signing free agent point guard Jason Terry, another positive locker room influence who could help the troubled Ty Lawson.

Both moves would be great for a Rockets team that's looking to win it all next year. Neither player is all that productive, but both manage to give far more than they take away.
