Last year, Detroit Lions cornerback Nevin Lawson had his rookie season cut short by a dislocated left foot. The nasty injury was suffered in the second week of the season, during a 24-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

However, as he enters his second NFL training camp with the Lions, Lawson claims to be fully recovered from the injury that cost him 14 games last year, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

"I'm feeling great," Lawson said, via the Free Press. "I think I'm 100 percent, so we'll just see where it goes from there."

Lawson, a fourth-round pick out of Utah State in last year's draft, now faces an uphill climb to earn his keep with the Lions. Still, he claims the setback has not affected his mental approach to making the team.

"(The injury) hasn't really weighed on me (mentally) or anything," Lawson said, per the Free Press. "Only thing I was just disappointed in was missing a whole year."

Darius Slay and Rashean Mathis project to be the Lions' two starting cornerbacks. Behind them, the team has two promising 2015 draft picks in Alex Carter (third round) and Quandre Diggs (sixth round). To top it off, Detroit signed veteran free agent C.J. Stanford off the street this week.

It'll be a tough competition for Lawson to crack, especially if he's aiming to earn significant playing time in 2015.
