It must be nice for Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap to be so close to home. The Hawks forward was born in Monroe, Louisiana, a roughly seven hour drive from Atlanta. It's not a bad trip at all for Millsap whenever he wants to go back.
Like last week, for example, when Millsap was back in his home state to be honored in an event that spotlighted "homegrown talent" from the area, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
While he was in Louisiana, Millsap donated $30,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Louisiana and another $50,000 to his high school alma mater, Grambling High School, per Vivlamore.
In the dog days of July and August, there's not a whole lot for players to do. It's hard to think of a better use of the time than being honored by where you came from and donating a bunch of money to worthwhile causes.
