Billy Hurley III is playing this week's Quicken Loans National while enduring a family crisis — his father, Willard Hurley Jr., has been missing for the past nine days.

Hurley broke down in tears as he announced to reporters on Tuesday that his mother has filed a missing-persons report for his father, a retired police officer.

The 33-year-old golfer says his father got into his truck on July 19 with some cash and clothes and drove away, and hasn't been heard from since.

He says he hopes someone who knows his father's whereabouts will come forward. He says he's playing this week in hopes his father will see him on TV and come home.

Hurley's father lives in Leesburg, Virginia, about 25 miles north of Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.
