Less than a day after a bizarre scene in Colorado saw Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto apparently headed to Kansas City then pulled back into duty when the trade fell through -- it appears a deal has been worked out.
The Royals are getting Cueto, a source told FOX Sports MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal.
Cueto went on to pitch eight scoreless innings in a 5-2 win over the Rockies Saturday night, despite all the confusion pregame.
The earlier trade fell through when one of the other players involved in the deal did not check out medically, sources told Ken Rosenthal.
Cueto is just 7-6 this season, but his WHIP is just 0.93 and he sports a 2.62 ERA.
For his career, he is 92-63 with a 3.21 ERA.
According to FOX Sports MLB Insider Jon Paul Morosi, John Lamb is one of the prospects heading to Cincinnati in the deal.
More to come.
