Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryn Parry fired a second-round 7-under 67, which vaulted him into a 4-shot lead at the season-opening PC Financial Open.
Parry set the 36-hole record by finishing two rounds at 12-under-par 132. The previous record was 133 set by Eugene Wong last season.
Albin Choi shot a 5-under 67 at Point Grey Golf and Country Club and he is alone in second at 8-under 136. Logan McCracken (66) is one shot further back at minus-7.
First-round leader Thomas Hay (72) is tied for fourth at 6-under 138 with John Catlin (67), Ross Beal (68), Kevin Vanden Heuvel (70), Bo Hoag (70), Mackenzie Hughes (70) and Jay Myers (71).
Playing the back nine first, Parry got off to a great start with three birdies over his first five holes at 11, 12 and 14.
A bogey at the par-4 16th dropped him back a shot, but Parry made the turn in style with back-to-back gains on 17 and 18.
Following a trio of pars from one, Parry separated himself from the pack with four straight birdies from No. 4, pushing his score up to minus-13.
While he did bogey the par-4 ninth, Parry still finished 36 holes with a comfortable 4-shot lead.
NOTES: Parry had one start on tour last season and it was at this event. The Canadian missed the cut at 1-under 143 ... With the cut falling at 1-under 143, 67 players advanced to play the weekend.
