Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth underwent a CT scan Thursday that revealed two fractures in his left wrist.

Werth, 36, was injured after getting hit by a fastball from San Diego starter Odrisamer Despaigne fastball on May 15 and placed on the disabled list four days later. If his rehab program goes as planned, he could return as early as August.

The oft-injured veteran missed 44 games in 2005 with the Dodgers, the entire 2006 season and 75 games in 2012 due to wrist injuries. He also began this season on the DL recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Werth was batting just .208 with two homers and 12 runs batted in over 27 games this season.
