Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Juninho's goal on a penalty shot gave Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night at the StubHub Center.
The Galaxy will try to continue its turnaround with a second consecutive win on Wednesday following a 1-0 result over the Houston Dynamo on Friday. Real Salt Lake, meanwhile, is coming off a big win at Rio Tinto Stadium that saw the home side topple former manager Jason Kreis and New York City FC by a 2-0 score line.
The Galaxy struck first in the seventh minute when Juninho converted from the penalty stripe with a right footed shot and beat Real keeper Nick Rimando to the lower left corner.
Salt Lake had a great chance in the 25th minute when Olmes Garcia took a shot from the right side of the box on a set piece but missed the right side of the net. This was RSL's best chance in the first half.
In the second half LA dominated the half and continued to apply pressure to the Real defense but the defense held strong and gave their team a chance mto tie the game.
SLT only had one good chance and it came in the 84th minute. Javier Morales' right footed shot from outside the box just missed high and wide to the right as the Galaxy collected three points.
