St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed first baseman Matt Adams on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

Adams strained his right quad while running out a double during the fifth inning of the Cardinals' 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was hitting .243 with four home runs and 20 RBI over 43 games this season.

In a corresponding move, St. Louis recalled catcher Ed Easley from Triple-A Memphis. He has yet to make his major league debut.
