(SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics eye their first three-game winning streak of the season on Monday when they kick off a three-game series with the Detroit Tigers at the Coliseum.
Oakland has struggled mightily this season and owns the worst record in baseball at 16-30. However, the A's managed to split a four-game set with the American League East-leading Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend, taking the final two games, including a 7-2 win in Sunday's finale.
Mark Canha hit a three-run home run, Stephen Vogt drove in a pair of runs while Billy Burns hit a solo home run and scored three times for Oakland, which won for only the third time in 11 games.
Sonny Gray (5-2) pitched five innings and gave up four hits while striking out four, but had to depart the game due to a bruised right ankle.
"He's fine, he had X-rays and he's fine," said Oakland manager Bob Melvin about Gray. "He's limping around a little bit right now. He was all right for a little bit but after the fifth it started bothering him a little bit so we decided to pull him."
Oakland hasn't put three straight wins together since doing it from Aug. 7-9 of last season.
Getting the call on Monday will be righty Jesse Hahn, who has lost his last three decisions. Hahn fell in Houston on Wednesday, as he allowed three runs and five hits in six innings to drop to 1-4 on the season to go along with a 4.43 ERA.
Detroit, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a pair of losses to the Houston Astros. After winning the first two games in their four-game set with the Astros, the Tigers dropped the last two, including a 10-8 setback on Sunday.
Bryan Holaday hit a three-run double for the Tigers, who have dropped five of their last eight overall. Anthony Gose, J.D. Martinez, Yoenis Cespedes and Nick Castellanos all contributed an RBI each in the loss.
Alex Wilson (1-1) was charged with two runs on two hits while recording just two outs across the sixth and seventh frames.
Miguel Cabrera homered to extend his hitting streak to 12 games and is batting .413 with five homers over that stretch.
Heading to the hill for the Tigers on Monday will be righty Shane Greene, who is 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA. Greene did not get a decision on Wednesday against Milwaukee, as he yielded a pair of runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings before leaving with an ulnar nerve issue.
Monday's contest will also mark Cespedes' return to Oakland for the first time since the A's sent him to Boston at last year's trade deadline.
Detroit won five of its seven matchups with the A's last season, including wins in the last four meetings.
