Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes was activated off the 15-day disabled list Sunday after recovering from a sprained right knee ligament.

Gomes last played on April 11 against the Tigers when he was hurt on a play at the plate. He suffered a moderate sprain of the medial collateral ligament when Detroit's Rajai Davis slid into his right foot on a force out at home.

The Indians designated catcher Brett Hayes for assignment to open a roster spot. Hayes was hitting .156 in 14 games.
