Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros have called up top pitching prospect Lance McCullers and placed pitcher Samuel Deduno on the 15- day disabled list with a lower back strain.
The Astros also transferred shortstop Jed Lowrie to the 60-day DL.
McCullers will make his MLB debut Monday night in a start against the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander has been dominate with Double-A Corpus Christi this season to earn his big league debut, going 3-1 with a 0.62 earned run average over six games with four starts. In that span, he allowed two earned runs and 15 hits over 29 innings while racking up 43 strikeouts.
Deduno is 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in nine games (two starts) this season.
