Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Perrine Delacour carded a 4-under 67 in Saturday's third round and moved one shot ahead of the field at the Kingsmill Championship.
Delacour ended 54 holes at 11-under-par 202. She will go for her first LPGA Tour title on Sunday.
Second-round leader Alison Lee dropped three strokes in two holes late in the round and fell into second place at minus-10. She posted a 1-under 70 Saturday on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort & Spa.
Paula Creamer (66), So Yeon Ryu (68) and Minjee Lee (69) share third place at 9-under-par 204. Lexi Thompson is one stroke back at minus-8 after a third- round 67.
Suzann Pettersen (69) is tied for seventh at 7-under 206. She was joined there by Hyo Joo Kim (67), Angela Stanford (68) and Jing Yan (69).
Alison Lee birdied the par-5 third to move two clear of the field at 10-under. After three pars in a row, Lee dropped in consecutive birdies at seven and eight to climb to 12-under, where she was three ahead of Ryu and Delacour.
Around the turn, Lee carded her final birdie of the day the 11th. That gave Lee at 4-stroke lead over Ryu. Lee parred the next four holes before things came apart.
Lee tripped to a bogey at the 16th and her lead was suddenly down to two. Her tee shot at the par-3 17th stopped on the fringe. Lee 4-putted for double- bogey from there and that dropped her into a tie for the lead. She parred the last to end one behind Delacour.
"I felt like I hit a couple decent strokes and I misread it. Especially on 15, 16 and 17, I hit strokes that I thought were good, but they didn't turn out as well," Lee stated. "I'm pretty sure that 4-putt on 17 will comeback to haunt me tomorrow."
Delacour had six pars and a birdie in her first seven holes. She moved to minus-9 with a birdie at the par-4 eighth.
After a pair of pars, she stumbled to a bogey at the 11th. Delacour atoned for that mistake with a birdie at the 14th.
The Frenchwoman birdied the 16th, then tapped in a short birdie effort at 18 to grab the third-round lead.
"I think tomorrow I will be nervous. It's my first time with the (third-round) lead, so I'm going to be nervous, but I'm going to try my best and we'll see after 18 holes," said Delacour, who has never led after any round on the LPGA Tour. "I'm just going to try my best."
NOTES: Delacour had missed the cut in her last five starts, and six of the seven times she played this season ... Alison Lee is also looking for her first tour win.
