San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals placed right- handed pitcher Doug Fister on the 15-day disabled list with forearm soreness and recalled A.J. Cole to take his place on the 25-man roster.
Fister, 31, was rocked for seven runs in two innings against San Diego on Thursday. He is 2-2 with a 4.31 ERA in seven starts this season.
The 23-year-old Cole, another right-handed pitcher, made his major league debut last month for the Nationals, allowing nine runs -- four earned -- in two innings in a 13-12 win at Atlanta.
Cole was 0-1 with a 2.67 ERA in five starts for Triple-A Syracuse this season.
