San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Chargers have signed running back Melvin Gordon, their first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Financial terms were not released.
Gordon was selected with the 15th overall pick of the draft after a standout career at the University of Wisconsin. The Chargers traded a pair of draft picks to San Francisco to move up two spots to pick the Heisman Trophy finalist.
An incredible 2014 season vaulted Gordon into the first round of the draft. He ran for 2,587 yards with 29 touchdowns and caught 19 passes for 153 yards with three scores, earning the Doak Walker Award as the top running back in college football.
Gordon also ran for 1,609 yards and 12 scores in 2013.
The Chargers will head into this weekend's rookie minicamp with each of their draft picks under contract.
