Owings Mills, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Linebacker Jarret Johnson signed a one-day contract with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday before announcing his retirement following a 12-year career in the NFL.
The 33-year-old spent his first nine seasons in Baltimore after being selected in the fourth round of the 2003 draft from Alabama. After starting his career as a defensive lineman, Johnson moved to outside linebacker, where he made his mark as a pass rusher.
In 184 career games, Johnson finished with 25 1/2 sacks, including a career- high six in 2009. With Baltimore, he played in 129 consecutive games which stood as a franchise record until punter Sam Koch surpassed his mark in 2014.
Johnson finished his career with three seasons in San Diego, where he accumulated 5 1/2 sacks.
