Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Todd Frazier and Marlon Byrd both homered to help the Cincinnati Reds to a series win over the Atlanta Braves with a 5-1 victory on Wednesday night.
Joey Votto had a pair of hits with an RBI and a run scored and Zack Cozart drove in a run for the Reds, who have won two straight following a three-game skid.
Raisel Iglesias (1-0) was impressive in his second career start, allowing one run and striking out five in eight innings of work. Iglesias walked the first batter he faced and retired 12 straight from there. He allowed his first hit when pinch-hitter Eric Young Jr. singled to center to start the sixth.
"It was special for all of us to be there to see him pitch such a good ball game," Reds manager Bryan Price said of Iglesias. "We're all proud of him."
Eric Stults (1-4) lost his third straight start after giving up five runs on six hits over five innings.
Cozart doubled with one away in the first and scored on Votto's single to center.
Byrd then added on in the second with a leadoff homer to left, his seventh round-tripper of the season.
The Reds continued to give Iglesias early support, pushing two more across in the third. Billy Hamilton and Cozart made the first two outs of the inning before Votto singled and trotted home when Frazier blasted a 2-0 fastball to center field for a 4-0 lead.
Hamilton raced around the bags for a one-out triple in the fifth and came home on Cozart's sacrifice fly.
"We only had him on the ropes once and he got out of it," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said of Iglesias.
The Braves got on the board in the eighth on Nick Markakis' RBI groundout that scored Pedro Ciriaco, who tripled with one out.
Tony Cingrani polished off Iglesias' gem with a scoreless ninth inning.
