Foxborough, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was among three players placed on waivers by the New England Patriots Tuesday.
Dennard started 20 games and logged five interceptions in three seasons with New England, which selected the former Nebraska standout in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was active for only six games in 2014 before landing on injured reserve prior to Week 17.
The Patriots had just selected two defensive backs in this past weekend's draft, nabbing Stanford safety Jordan Richards in the second round and Marshall cornerback Darryl Roberts in the seventh.
Linebacker Deontae Skinner and long snapper Tyler Ott also were released by New England. Skinner appeared in seven games as an undrafted rookie last season, recording 16 tackles and one sack.
