Nantes, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Paris Saint-Germain maintained its three-point lead atop the Ligue 1 table on Sunday courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 win over Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Coming off wins over Lille and Metz, the defending champions entered Sunday hoping for three points to keep their drive for another French league title alive, and it didn't take long for the visitors to get off to a positive start as Edinson Cavani opened the scoring after three minutes.

Laurent Blanc's team doubled the advantage just past the half-hour mark though dynamic midfielder Blaise Matuidi, and Nantes had little answer for the defending champions as PSG eased to an important three points to stay in first place.

Nantes, meanwhile, remains in 11th place with the defeat on 44 points from 35 matches played.

Also in the French top flight on Sunday, Monaco extended its unbeaten run in league play to four consecutive matches with a comfortable 4-1 win over Toulouse at the Stade Louis II.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring after nine minutes for the hosts, but Martin Braithwaite equalized for Toulouse in the 26th minute.

Anthony Martial converted a penalty kick on the stroke of halftime and Joao Moutinho added a third goal in the 56th minute.

Both sides went down to 10 men in the 80th minute when referee Nicolas Rainville issued straight red cards to Monaco's Nabil Dirar and Toulouse's Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.

Valere Germain finished the rout for Monaco with a goal in the 90th minute.

Sofiane Boufal, Djibril Sidibe and Liverpool loanee Divock Origi all found the back of the net to lead Lille to a 3-1 win over Lens.
