Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Billy Butler smacked a two-rum homer as part of a five-run seventh inning and the Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 9-2 in the third of a four-game set.
Sonny Gray (2-0) struck out seven and surrendered a run on just two hits and a pair of walks over seven innings for Oakland, which has alternated wins and losses over its past six games.
Sam Fuld posted two hits and scored three runs, Stephen Vogt tallied a pair of hits, two RBI and scored a run and Ike Davis recorded three hits with an RBI and a run scored in the triumph.
David Freese had two hits and scored a run for the Angels, who have dropped four of their past five games.

Eric Sogard led off the frame with a single, stole second and moved to third on Marcus Semien's sacrifice bunt. Fernando Salas (0-1) intentionally walked Fuld and Mark Canha struck out.
Cesar Ramos came on to pitch and served up a single to Vogt through the hole on the right side to plate Sogard. Vinnie Pestano then toed the bump and Fuld scored on a wild pitch. Butler launched a two-run shot to center and a Brett Lawrie RBI single later in the frame made it 6-1.
Vogt's sacrifice fly, Butler's RBI single and Davis' RBI groundout in the eighth made it 9-1.
Matt Joyce's RBI groundout in the ninth capped the scoring.
