Bucharest, Romania (SportsNetwork.com) - Third-seeded towering Croat Ivo Karlovic and former champion Lukas Rosol were among Wednesday's second-round winners at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy tennis event.

The 6-foot-10 Karlovic swatted 12 aces and came from behind to beat rising 18- year-old fellow Croat Borna Coric 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, while the fourth-seeded Czech slugger Rosol overcame Serb Dusan Lajovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on the red clay at Arenele BNR.

"It was a good match for me, in difficult conditions, the weather changing, not easy," Rosol said after beating Lajovic. "But in the end I was the happy one. And this is the most important."

Rosol was last year's runner-up to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov after capturing the Bucharest title in 2013.

Next up for Karlovic will be Czech Jiri Vesely, while Rosol's quarterfinal opponent will be Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Meanwhile, the fifth-seeded 2013 Bucharest runner-up Garcia-Lopez handled former Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis 7-5, 6-2 and the seventh- seeded Vesely trounced Tunisian Malek Jaziri 6-3, 6-1.

In some second-round action on Thursday, top-seeded three-time Bucharest champion Gilles Simon of France will battle wild card and fellow former top-10 star Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia and second-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils will encounter Russian veteran Mikhail Youzhny.

The 2015 Bucharest champion will earn $86,400.
