Rays sign C Arencibia to minor league deal

St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays signed catcher J.P. Arencibia to a minor league contract on Thursday.

Arencibia, 29, batted .177 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 62 games for the Texas Rangers last season.

He hit .212 with 64 homers and 193 RBI in 380 games for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2010-13.
