Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians placed catcher Yan Gomes on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a sprained right knee.

Cleveland also recalled pitchers Shaun Marcum and Austin Adams from Triple-A Columbus, optioned pitcher Kyle Crockett to the minors and released pitcher Charles Brewers.

Gomes was injured in the ninth inning of Saturday's loss to the Detroit Tigers when Rajai Davis slid into his right foot, which was planted on home plate, on a forceout.

Marcum, 33, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013, when he went 1-10 with the New York Mets. He spent the 2014 season in the Cleveland organization rehabbing from right shoulder surgery.
