Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich midfielder David Alaba is expected to miss the next seven weeks because of a knee ligament injury, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
The Austria international suffered a medial collateral ligament tear in his left knee during his country's friendly with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday, meaning he may miss out on the rest of Bayern's campaign.
The 22-year-old already missed two months this season because of a knee injury, limiting him to 19 starts in the Bundesliga.
And now Alaba will miss both legs of his team's Champions League quarterfinal with FC Porto, and potentially one or both legs in the semifinal round if Bayern reaches that point.
