Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Raffael scored on either side of halftime to help Monchengladbach hand Bayern Munich a 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena, Bayern's second loss in league play this season.

Raffael scored on the half-hour mark to put the visitors into the lead and he scored again 13 minutes from time to hand Monchengladbach three big points to take the side back into third place, two points clear of fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite the defeat, Bayern is still 10 points clear of second-place Wolfsburg with eight games to play.

Bayern started on the front foot and looked likely to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes. However, the hosts failed to make the most of their early chances, and Monchengladbach's first shot on goal gave the visitors the lead as a low effort from Raffael managed to squeeze underneath Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

It was a rare error from the Bayern netminder, and Neuer was fortunate not to be picking the ball out of his net again when a shot from Andre Hahn struck the post.

Bayern was struggling to get going after falling behind, and Monchengladbach added a second goal 13 minutes from time to secure the win.

Christoph Kramer played provider on the goal with a pinpoint cross that allowed Raffael to send a volley past Neuer, who didn't enjoy his best game in a Bayern uniform.

Sunday's other contest saw second-place Wolfsburg finish in a 1-1 draw at Mainz, which took the lead after eight minutes through Niko Bungert before Luiz Gustavo equalized in the 61st minute.
