Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - First-year Youngstown State football coach Bo Pelini has named his brother Carl as the Penguins' defensive line coach.

Carl Pelini was in his second season as Florida Atlantic's head coach in 2013 when he and an assistant were fired amid reports of illegal drug usage, which he has since denied.

Previously, Carl was Bo's defensive coordinator at Nebraska from 2008 to 2011. Carl is a 1989 graduate of Youngstown State.

Youngstown State won four FCS (then NCAA Division I-AA) national championships between 1991 and '97 under Jim Tressel, now the school's president. The Penguins, who were 7-5 last season, have not appeared in the national playoffs since 2006.
