Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Three members of the Morgan State University football team were hospitalized with stab wounds following an altercation Tuesday outside a campus dining hall, the Baltimore Police Department confirmed.
All three players sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Baltimore police, though the Baltimore Sun reported that one victim is in serious condition after being stabbed in the chest.
The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a gathering sponsored by the Morgan State student government and several fraternities and sororities. A university spokesman said a suspect was observed swinging a knife outside the cafeteria.
No arrests have yet been made, though the Baltimore police issued a statement saying that the department is in the process of speaking to several persons of interest.
Tuesday was the first day of spring practice for the Morgan State football team, which earned a spot in the 2014 FCS Playoffs as the champion of the Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference.
